Customs and Import Taxes – OrbeoStore (UK)
At OrbeoStore, we aim to make your international shopping experience as smooth as possible.
However, as the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union, all international imports are now subject to customs checks and possible taxation by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
1. Customs Duties and VAT (Import Tax)
-
All goods entering the UK from outside the country may be subject to import VAT (Value Added Tax) and, in some cases, customs duty depending on the product type and total declared value.
-
The UK de minimis value allows small parcels to enter the country without customs duty if the total declared value is below £135 (including shipping).
-
However, VAT at 20% may still apply at the point of sale or during customs clearance, depending on how the goods are shipped and the total order value.
If import duties or taxes are due, they must be paid by the recipient (customer) before delivery can be completed. The courier (e.g., Royal Mail, DHL, or Parcelforce) will contact you directly to arrange payment.
2. Customs Clearance and Delays
Occasionally, shipments may be held at customs for inspection or documentation verification.
These delays are beyond our control but usually resolve within a few days once duties or import taxes (if any) are settled.
We advise customers to track their parcels regularly using the tracking number provided and to respond promptly to any requests from the courier or customs authorities.
3. Responsibility for Import Charges
If customs duties, VAT, or import handling fees are applied, they are the responsibility of the customer, as required by UK import regulations.
OrbeoStore cannot reimburse or cancel these charges imposed by HMRC.
We are, however, happy to assist customers with guidance on how to pay or resolve import-related issues and to help ensure smooth delivery of your order.
4. What to Do if Your Order Is Delayed by Customs
If your parcel is marked as “Customs Processing” or “Held at Customs”:
-
Please continue monitoring your tracking updates.
-
Contact the courier (e.g., Royal Mail, DHL, DPD, etc.) for details about customs clearance.
-
If you need assistance, contact our customer service team, and we will do our best to support you and help expedite the release of your parcel whenever possible.
5. Important Notice
While most of our products are below the £135 import threshold and generally do not incur additional customs charges, HMRC retains the right to inspect and apply VAT or duties at its discretion.
All international purchases are subject to UK import laws, and any customs-related charges are payable by the final consumer.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that customs processing may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience.
